Retrospective

My best ideas are always the stolen ones. I thought I’d do a retrospective of the old house. Photos enhanced using Google magic to make it look more sentimental.

The front of the house.

The front of the house. When I bought it, it was a pale yellow colour. My dad had decided to repaint it an even nastier colour.

Kitchen

The kitchen with the awful orange and melamine cupboards, Β before the renovation, which were unusually low, even for me. The window was nice though, and brought a nice light into the room.

Kitchen

Kitchen part 2. View of the stove area. The cupboards looking even more hideous here.

Bathroom

The bathroom was renovated immediately after purchase, didn’t get a before photo. Just replaced the vanity and tiles.

Lounge room

Lounge room. I had grand plans for this room, envisaging some sort of boudoir-type look, but the revamp never really got off the ground.

Bedroom

Bedroom. I still love that chandelier and it’s going in my “lady cave” in the new place. I’m still also trying to sell the wardrobe.

Back yard

Back yard. It was a riot of weeds that refused to die. The birds loved the bottlebrush though.

Good times

Despite the general crappiness of the back yard, we made good use of it during summer evenings and would often sit outside with a glass or two, reading, playing games, or contemplating life.

So that’s the old place, bring on the new one!

  1. Ah, memories. πŸ™‚

  2. It has some features that still look great today. I love the picture rails, fire place, and even the chandelier! It is lovely to save a few things for the new home.

  3. Lovely post trix. Out with the old, in with the new

  4. Hahaha love the idea of this post and the idea of making the photos look more nostalgic! I love the chandelier and the brick fireplace, the ceiling details and the crazy garden (reminds me of friends’ gardens growing up) but the other bits, like the kitchen – ugh!

    • Thanks Maya πŸ™‚ The kitchen was truly hideous, I’m sure you can appreciate! I do kind of miss the old girl in a way though. I haven’t yet found a chandelier that I like better than that one. Some of the wiring is a bit dodgy, but I love it!
