Ensuite Pt 3. The Shower

The final instalment in the Ensuite series is the shower. Not terribly exciting, I’ll grant you that. But seeing as I’ll be in there at least once a day, and it sets the tone for my mood for the rest of the day, it’s worthy of some consideration.

For a while, this has been my inspiration pic. I love me a bit of glam, and the bronze tiles here dazzled me right off the bat.

Now, though, it seems a little bit too much. Not to mention a cleaning nightmare – and given my slothful nature, practicality trumps looks any day.

Speaking of practicality, a spacious shelf to put two sets of toiletries is a must. This shelf above is nice and wide, but not quite high enough.

I also like the idea of a bench in the shower. A full-length bench might be a bit too much, so I like the idea of a small corner bench, like this:

I also quite like the tile in that shower.

One thing that’s always bothered me with most showers is that the shower head is rarely  centred in the middle of the cubicle, which means that you sometimes end up touching the walls when turning around in the shower. Yuck. This would especially be an issue with waterfall type showerheads where the water falls straight down instead of angling out. So, perhaps something like this:

To round off the ensuite series, here is my second attempt at a mood board. I’m not sure about the tiles, but the overall theme should be calming and relaxing in muted tones, but with a touch of understated glamour:

  1. I love, love, love your latest mood board. A bit of shimmer in with the wood and grey and plenty of light. The overhead shower can be irritating if you don’t like to wash your hair everyday. Here’s a link to the DIY version of the glitzy floor that you like, in case you are really crazy. http://www.pinterest.com/pin/5348093281091018/

    • Thanks Jo! Good point about the shower – we wash our hair every day so it’s not a big issue, however very occasionally I have the desire to not wash my hair. One possible solution could be to have a hand or rail shower, which would also be handy for cleaning. For the guest bathroom, we’ll probably have a rail shower. (That penny floor is insane!)
